 P U N C T U A T I O N

Your assignments all show the use of run-on sentences. These are sentences that have more than one complete thought, and they are not punctuated correctly. When you have a complete thought, you need to think about punctuating. Also don't use a comma whenever you want to pause.

Please print, read, and use this sheet on punctuation:

 ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

When you do an assignment, click on the blue button to the left that says Assignments. Click the chapter you need to do, and click on the instructions to the assignment. Save your work as an RTF file, and attach it to the assignment. If for some reason you can't attach your work to the assignment, attach it to a message, but don't email it to me. Always read my comments and messages.

Don't go to the external site; read the assignment instructions there, and email your work to me. The assignments page on the external site is for my lecture classes. Notice that their chapter 4 assignment is harder than your assignment. It has an extra step.

Thanks

  STUDENT ART GALLERY

I want to say that this class has done some of the best work. Great job on the test, and the art has been painterly, spontaneous, free, and interesting. I posted some of your work on the external site:  Class Art Gallery . When more great examples become available, I will turn this page into a separate gallery. Thanks to all the students who gave permission to post their work. Great job to you all!

  FIRST WEEK WELL DONE!

Great job on your first two assignments. Your drip art pictures were the most creative I've ever scene, and most of you have been really great about reading and following instructions. That saves me and you a lot of time and effort.  Keep up the good work!

Welcome to Intro to Humanities!

I look forward to getting to know each of you. Online classes have unique challenges. There are technical things we need to know. Lets get started by learning about Blackboard, reading the syllabus, and doing our first assignment.

If you have never taken a Blackboard class, the first thing you need to do is click on the blue START HERE button to the left. This will minimize some problems that might arise. Read everything there. Reading and following all the instructions will save you a lot of time and frustration. It will make the class easier, and you will get a better grade. Another way to familiarize yourself with Blackboard is to click all the blue buttons to the left. Explore the information there. Don’t worry about breaking anything – you can’t. Make sure you read the syllabus carefully. Check the announcements weekly as they will help you keep on track.

After you have read the syllabus, click on the blue ASSIGNMENTS button to the left. Read all the instructions at the top of the page. Just under that you will see the class schedule link, and under that there are the assignments. Click the Class Schedule link (It's not a blue button). This tells you when and what to do. It says that this week you need to read the introduction chapter - and chapter one, and do the assignment for chapter one.

I look forward to our collaborative learning efforts, and hope you will end up loving the humanities as much as I do.

Your teacher,
